LV= has made changes to its range of income protection products, it has announced.

These will make products easier to understand and more desirable to customers and their financial advisers, it said.

New features of LV='s enhanced products, which have previously won awards for excellence, include attractive rates for teachers and dentists.

More than half of policy premiums for guaranteed combined life and critical illness have been cut.

The remainder have remained the same or increased.

LV='s head of intermediary marketing strategy Justin Harper said: "These improvements show our continuing commitment to make our protection solutions even more attractive, accessible and simple."

Richard Eagling, editor of investment, life & pensions at Moneyfacts described LV= as "the leader in the income protection market".

The company won Best Income Protection Provider at the 2007 Investment, Life & Pensions Moneyfacts awards.

Overall LV= appeared on the shortlist for five categories in the areas of protection and savings and investments.
