Admiral Insurance comments on driving test stats

Managing director for the group Sue Longthorn gave the advice after research by Admiral Insurance found that while some month's offered a higher pass rate, such motorists were also more likely to be involved in an accident.
This month, however, is a bad time to take your test as fewer drivers pass their tests in December than any other time of the year, but those who are successful were also involved in the least amount of accidents.
"On balance, I'd say the best month to sit your test is January, which has a reasonably high pass rate combined with a fairly low accident rate," Ms Longthorn said.
Those who fail the first time around should not be deterred, however, because there is no evidence to suggest that drivers who pass first time are better-skilled or safer on the road, she suggested.
"I passed my driving test on my third attempt and I have a very good driving record," Ms Longthorn noted.
Car insurance provider Admiral recently concluded that households with two or more cars are 22 per cent less likely than single car homeowners to be involved in a crash.
