Leeds Building Society mortgage sale offers discounts

A number of Leeds Building Society mortgage products are being discounted as part of the mortgage lender's January sale.

Borrowers taking out the Leeds Building Society two-year fixed-rate mortgage in January can save in excess of £1,000, the lender said.

An interest rate of 5.4 per cent will be charged on the Leeds Building Society mortgage, while the completion fee has been reduced to £299 and the valuation is free up to £335.

The mortgage lender said these factors, as well as ten per cent capital repayments that are allowed annually without penalties being charged, make the Leeds Building Society mortgage "very competitive".

Commenting on the product launch, Karen Wint of Leeds Building Society said households experience "a significant increase in expenditure" after the festive season.

In addition, many borrowers will come out of their existing fixed-rate mortgages in 2008, she added.

"Clearly, the opportunity to minimise the cost of the biggest monthly outgoing will be welcomed and this sale product provides this," Ms Wint said, adding that the Leeds Building Society two-year fixed-rate mortgage is "extremely attractive".

Meanwhile, the British Bankers' Association's latest mortgage lending figures show that mortgage approvals in November were low, with lending rising slower than in October.ADNFCR-323-ID-18407526-ADNFCR
