Post Office: Insurance products more popular

The Post Office's insurance products have been growing in popularity, the provider has claimed.

According to the Post Office, the sales of its van insurance and car insurance have been growing, due to its status as "one of the UK's most trusted brands".

Post Office Financial Services chief executive officers Patrick Waldron commented that one of the draws of the insurance is that there are "no hidden catches".

"With almost 1.4 million customers, we're one of the fastest-growing financial service providers in the UK," he added.

Post Office Van Insurance has racked up more than 12,000 sales in less than a year, while Post Office Car Insurance has signed up more than 500,000 policies.

Insurance products from the Post Office are offered at around 14,000 of its branches around the country.

Last month, the Post Office reduced its three-year fixed-rate mortgage rate to 5.48 per cent.
