Nationwide credit cards win award for responsible lending

Nationwide Building Society has been honoured as a responsible provider of credit cards by the annual Card Awards.

The award was given in recognition of its provision of fee-free card use abroad, transparency and clarity of credit card information, and positive order of payments.

Nationwide was the first financial services provider to produce a summary box in its marketing literature in 1999, a feature that has since become compulsory for all providers.

It claims that it has been campaigning for greater clarity in the industry ever since.

Jeremy Wood, Nationwide's director of consumer finance, said it was important for customers to have the information about credit cards presented to them clearly, "to help them choose the card that best suits them".

He added: "We have long since championed responsible lending across all of our products and we are especially proud to have been recognised for our efforts in the credit card market."

Nationwide also launched three new bonds today, which will be available from Friday February 15th.
