Halifax Home Insurance reveals Brits' musical habits

About 7.8 million homes in the UK contain at least one musical instrument and 9.7 Brits actively play one, Halifax says.
Many homes also contain music recording equipment worth more than £523 and playing and recording are not the extent of amateur musician's aspirations – 3.2 million people are also writing their own songs.
In fact, music totalling 300,000 albums has been recorded within the four walls of home over the past year.
Senior claims manager Martyn Foulds said: "Although musical instruments and recording equipment have undoubtedly become more affordable, they're still not items that can be easily replaced if the unthinkable happens."
He suggested single items worth more than £1,500 should be listed on the insurance policy schedule.
Unexpected damage caused by high winds cost £4.5 billion last year, but many householders were caught out as they did not have adequate insurance, according to Halifax figures.
