AA Travel Insurance: T5 customers will continue to be covered

Following the decision taken by a number of insurance firms, including Direct Line and Churchill, to exclude baggage loss and delays for those flying out of Terminal 5 from new insurance policies, AA Travel Insurance has said it will not be following in their footsteps.

The company stated that it "fully supports" British Airways in its attempts to resolve the baggage handling issues at the new Heathrow terminal.

With regard to the insurance issue, he said: "Withdrawing cover at a time when customers come to rely on their travel insurance seems an extraordinary step."

"We are not about to add to the uncertainty," he added.

Mr Young also suggested that it is in times of difficulty that insurance companies "perform best", by reassuring customers, answering questions and processing claims.

The AA joins Saga Insurance in declaring that it will continue to cover all passengers for lost or delayed baggage, regardless of where they fly from.
