NatWest: Brits lured abroad by job offers

According to new research from NatWest, increasing numbers of British workers are spending time working abroad.

Its International Personal Banking Quality of Life Report found that in 2006, over 200,000 UK citizens left their home country to work abroad, 42 per cent of whom were professionals or managers.

The bank discovered that the typical expat is 43 years old, has a professional career and earns an average salary of £67,000.

Among those surveyed, the primary reason for moving abroad was the offer of a better job and salary.

Dave Isley, head of NatWest International Personal Banking, stated: "This trend will increase as countries continue to seek out the talents of British workers and entice them to foreign climes with career opportunities and the chance to experience life abroad."

In other news from NatWest, the bank announced recently that it will cut its mortgage rates by up to 0.3 per cent.
