Alliance & Leicester mortgage range introduced

Alliance & Leicester has announced a new range of mortgages which offer lower rates for customers able to take out a product with a maximum loan-to-value of 75 per cent or less.

The range includes a number of different mortgage products giving borrowers the choice of what term they fix for, whether to go for a no fee product, or one that tracks the Bank of England base rate.

Among the mortgages available is a two-year fixed-rated product with a rate of 5.99 per cent, with a two per cent product arrangement fee and maximum loan of £1 million.

A two-year base tracker mortgage is also part of the new portfolio, with a rate of 5.89 per cent (base rate plus 0.89 per cent), which reverts to base rate plus 1.49 per cent after the two year period.

It has the same maximum loan amount and arrangement fee as the fixed-rate product and also promises not to levy early repayment charges.

Last month Alliance & Leicester announced that it was reducing the interest rates on the majority of its savings accounts by 0.25 per cent.
