Different cars appeal to different ages, Tesco research says

The common stereotype of young men in fast sports cars has been thrown into question by anew research from Tesco.

A study based on car insurance comparison quotes on Tescocompare.com found that owners of flashy vehicles such as the Porsche Cayenne, Boxster and 911 are likely to be around 40 years old.

Meanwhile, Volvo owners are typically around 42, Mercedes drivers are 43 and Jaguar fans are 47, the data indicates.

Paul Baxter of Tescocompare.com said the results suggest that image and reality may not always match up.

"This research has thrown up some surprising results, with cars we think are normally owned by the young having a surprisingly high typical age and vice-versa," he commented.

Recent research from Tesco revealed that the majority of British fans of French cars live in Swansea and Exeter.
