Alliance & Leicester launches ifax

Mortgages will be processed faster now that ifax is in use at Alliance & Leicester, the building society claims.

Brokers can fax documents to the building society, which will be received in electronic format on email.

Alliance & Leicester says this is more reliable than a standard fax and that documents are clearer to read.

There is also a zoom function.

Jill Butterwood, intermediary transformation manager at Alliance & Leicester, said mortgage processing would now be quicker as time on posting and sorting documents at the Mortgage Centre will now be saved.

She added that ifax offered peace of mind to brokers, as their fax receipt would let them know their documents had arrived.

Brokers can use ifax to send items including certified packaging, completed direct debit mandates and paper applications.

No specialised equipment beyond a fax machine is required.

Some applications will still need to be sent by paper.

In an email to brokers, quoted by Mortgage Solutions, the firm said it continued "to be committed to providing a fast efficient service to the intermediary market".
