AA: Brits driving to cut travel costs

A total of 22 per cent of Britons are planning to take a driving holiday this summer in an effort to cut travel costs, research from AA has found.

Mark Huggins, head of AA Personal Loans, stated that its latest findings show that people are "being smart with their money" at present and that some are considering purchasing a smaller car for greater fuel savings.

"People are also thinking carefully about buying smaller cars to save money but it is important to make sure the car you choose is suitable for going on long holiday journeys, with enough room for all your passengers and luggage," he said.

Mr Huggins explained that as one-third of car buyers use a personal loan to fund their purchase, it is a good idea for people to shop around for their car finance in addition to their new vehicle.

The AA offers a range of financial services, including home insurance, car insurance, breakdown cover and personal loans.
