HSBC enhances current account

A bank account launched by HSBC in 2005 has been given a number of new features.

The HSBC Bank Account Plus, now known as HSBC Plus, offers benefits such as a six per cent credit interest on the first £1,000 in the account.

Worldwide family travel insurance, roadside breakdown assistance and £3,000 of life cover for customers aged under 65 are also included in the package.

The account costs £12.95 a month for a minimum contract term of 12 months.

Carlos Wanderley, general manager of HSBC customer propositions, called the account a "tangible service proposition".

In other news, online business solutions provider Venda and PayPal have partnered up to deliver an ecommerce solution to small businesses.

The new ecommerce platform is said to make online payments simple and secure from all over the world.

Dan Wagner, chairman of Venda, said the system is "low cost, simple to sue and requires no technical expertise".

It is fully integrated with PayPal.
