Abbey: Entrepreneurs put business before health

Owners of small and medium sized businesses are often risking their health with their business, new research from Abbey has found.

A study discovered that one in three (35 per cent) of the 300 people polled have missed a doctor's appointment due to a work commitment.

According to the survey, the average entrepreneur works 40 hours a week.

But 30 per cent of them work 50 hours or more.

A spokesperson stressed: "While hard work and putting in the hours may be viewed by entrepreneurs as the key to success, in the long run nothing is more important than your health."

In addition, 40 per cent of men said they had put off dealing with a health issue, something 26 per cent of women said they had done.
