Coventry Building Society launches new version of account

A new issue of the 50 Plus eSave account has been launched by Coventry Building Society.

The new product offers a rate of 6.25 per cent AER and allows account holders unlimited access without penalty.

The account is exclusively for people aged over 50 and interest rates are fixed for 12 months from the date of the account being opened.

It is available for investments from £1 to £250,000.

Rachel Haworth, head of marketing at the Coventry, said: "With many commentators expecting interest rates to fall, now is a good time to fix into a great rate and have penalty free instant access 24/7."

In related news, Chelsea Building Society has appointed Gary Pickering as its new director of sales.

He replaces Marilyn Corke, who announced earlier this year that she would be retiring after 30 years of service.

Mr Pickering has worked at Chelsea for over 13 years and has held several sales positions within the society.

He will take up his new post next month.
