Lloyds TSB comparison website launched

A new website to help customers compare service and utility providers has been launched by Lloyds TSB.
The site, lloydstsbcompare.com, allows users to assess gas, electricity, telephone and broadband providers.
It also enables them to compare car insurance and travel insurance policies, as well as supermarket and petrol prices.
Helen Wylde of Lloyds TSB Compare said customers were concerned about how to meet rising household bills during the winter.
She said research by Lloyds TSB had shown that 80 per cent of households were feeling the effects of the increases.
Lloyds TSB cited research by Tickbox.net which found 27 per cent of households have seen an energy bill rise of more than £40 a month, with 30 per cent thinking there could be another equal rise during the winter.
Last month, prime minister Gordon Brown announced a £1 billion package to help households cope with the rising costs of energy.
The Times reported that energy firms and generators had agreed to provide £910 million to help pensioners and low-income households get such measures as free loft and cavity insulation.
But industry sources said the middle classes would be made to pay for much of the scheme through higher bills.
