Mobile call costs 'are cheaper thanks to technology'

A rising number of options for internet calling services on mobile phones is reducing the fees.
Reuters reports that Wi-Fi chips are making a significant difference, with Nokia one of the biggest manufacturers of phones containing the technology.
The news provider covers the case of Dallas-based nuclear engineer Mark Laris, who travels internationally to run a consultancy business.
Technology such as Wi-Fi chips and Voice over Internet Protocol enable him to make most business and personal calls at reduced rates, saving thousands of dollars a year.
Mr Laris told Reuters that the quality of a VoIP call was just as good as an ordinary one.
Pre-pay phone users can also help BBC Children in Need 2008 by topping up at ATMs next month.
Almost 50,000 ATMs offer the service.
Banks and mobile phone operators will donate 5p to the charity for every top-up made in November.
The scheme is being run in conjunction with payment specialist VocaLink, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
