Moneyextra.com acquires motoring site

Comparison website Moneyextra.com has acquired motoring.co.uk in a deal it says will improve its service.

Moneyextra.com said that the agreement will increase the information it can provide regarding the motoring industry, covering such aspects as buying, selling, hiring and insuring.

John Elder, chief executive officer of Moneyextra.com, said the price comparison site was "absolutely delighted to have completed the deal".

He noted that Moneyextra.com had already acquired Onecompare.com to improve its coverage of the mobile phone sector.

Chris Green, managing director at motoring.co.uk, said the company could grow "dynamically" as a result of the acquisition and that Moneyextra.com would provide an "established infrastructure, skilled people and the necessary funding" to be competitive.

In May, Moneyextra.com announced that it had come under new management and expressed its dedication to online growth.

At the time, Mr Elder said it was looking to acquire other "leading businesses".

The new group, which began trading as Moneyextra.com Limited, came after a review by AWD Group which suggested a new focus on online opportunities.
