Cheshire Building Society home insurance offers discount

A limited-period discount is being offered on Cheshire Building Society home insurance.

The 25 per cent discount is available for customers buying the society's Select buildings and contents insurance policy.

Cheshire Building Society said that there is a risk of damage to properties on Bonfire Night and urged people to check in advance that they are properly covered.

Its home insurance is underwritten by the RSA.

Karen Torson, product manager at the society, said that Bonfire Night is "a time of year when accidents can happen".

Earlier this month, Cheshire Building Society made its Premier Postal Savings account available from its branches.

The account has a 5.75 per cent gross rate.

According to spokesperson David Gibson, it was so popular that it warranted easier availability by being introduced into the society's outlets.

A minimum balance of £5,000 is required, capped at £50,000.

Holders of the account can make withdrawals of up to £500 by cheque per request.
