Tesco Insurance: Claims increase over Halloween

You may not be frightened of witches and ghouls over Halloween, but according to Tesco Insurance you should fear having to claim on your home cover.

Tesco Home Insurance has urged homeowners to remain vigilant and ensure their policies are properly up to date as trick or treaters draw near.

It said that insurance claims rise over Halloween and warned that individuals could cause damage to property, intentionally or by accident.

Homeowners were advised either to stock up on sweets to give to well-behaved trick or treaters, or turn lights off and pretend not to be home on the night.

Plant pots, statues and outdoor furniture should be moved out of sight or securely locked away.

Last week, Tesco announced that it had added a whole-of- market mortgage search capacity to comparison website Tescocompare.com.

Users also have the opportunity to contact a team of advisers by phone.

Spokesperson Matthew Dransfield said being able to compare product features on a like-for-like basis would assist anyone searching for a mortgage.
