Skipton Building Society: Savings important now for Christmas next year

The Skipton Christmas Saver Account was said to help people budget in advance to make sure they have enough for next year's festive season.
An account can be opened with any deposit between £10 and £250.
Holders of the account then pay in anything from £10 to £250 per month, investing any amount per month as long as it keeps to the £10 minimum.
Interest on the account, from which withdrawals cannot be made, is then capitalised at midnight on November 24th 2009.
The interest and the account balance are then moved to an Instant Access Account, enabling cash withdrawals of up to £250 a day.
Last week, Skipton announced that it had maintained its Standard Variable Rate.
It said that its existing customers on base rate tracker mortgages had seen their rates drop by 0.5 per cent, as the conditions of the deal required.
