Abbey credit card is 'one of the stronger offers'

A new Abbey credit card has been described by finance website MoneyExpert as "one of the stronger offers" available in the current range of cashback cards.

Sean Gardner of MoneyExpert said that Abbey is providing "something a little different" and noted that, at three per cent cashback, it is among the better deals available on the "dozen or so" cashback cards that can be obtained.

He observed that most cards offer just 0.5 per cent on purchases.

Furthermore, the card was said to come with a "good standard" offer of zero per cent on balance transfers for nine months.

While other cards offer APRs of 15.9 per cent, compared to the Abbey card's 18.9 per cent after three months of zero per cent on purchases, Mr Gardner said that those looking particularly for rewards could find the card suitable.

The new card offers three per cent cashback on supermarket and petrol purchases for six months.

Abbey said it developed the card to help people with increasing everyday expenses.

Roger Lovering, managing director of Abbey Credit Cards, said families need "all the help they can get to cover the cost of their weekly shopping essentials".
