Sainsbury's Bank: Brits ready themselves for last minute Christmas shopping

Sainsbury's Bank has conducted a survey which reveals that just under half of UK shoppers will be hitting the shops today, having left some of their resent buying until the last minute.

According to the statistics, men are more likely to be last minute shoppers than women, with 54 per cent of men saying that Christmas Eve will find them in the shops, compared with just 39 per cent of women.

Donald MacLeod, head of Sainsbury's credit cards, said: "Christmas Eve has always been a hectic time for shoppers and it looks like this year will be no exception.

"The high street is set to be very busy as millions of people rush to buy last minute presents."

These last minute shoppers may be helped by the fact that many popular present items such as toys and clothes have come down in price recently, according to a survey by Halifax.
