Brits advised to put on pounds in the new year

A price comparison website has advised Brits to pile on the pounds in the new year, as their data shows that people in the UK could save thousands of pounds sterling by switching their financial service suppliers.

According to moneysupermarket.com, Brits could save around £2,500 over the next twelve months by changing a few of their financial habits.

The website advised customers to shop around for the best rates on personal loans, savings accounts, and the best zero per cent balance transfer deals on credit cards.

Clare Francis, site editor at moneysupermarket.com, said: "A New Year's resolution to look for more competitive deals and products could easily lead to an extra £2,500 or more by next Christmas.

"The great thing about these savings is they can be made without changing your lifestyle at all."

Recent research by Alliance & Leicester revealed that saving more money and cutting down on spending will be two of the most popular New Year's resolutions for next year.
