Lloyds TSB Insurance warns homeowners to check their policies

According to the insurer, burst pipe damage can be expensive to repair, with the average claim amounting to £1,400 and one claim costing more than £40,000 to repair.
Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB Insurance, said that after last year’s comparatively mild winter some homeowners may not be properly protected against pipes bursting and warned homeowners to ensure that their pipes are properly insulated.
He added: "A little bit of preparation now could save you from having to deal with escaping water from burst pipes or a broken boiler. To give yourself peace of mind, make sure you have adequate insurance which will cover you if the icy conditions take their toll on your home."
Recently Norwich Union said that cold weather also caused an increase in the number of car insurance claims over the winter months and warned drivers to take extra care on the roads.
