Lloyds TSB insurance claimed by man who shot TV

Lloyds TSB has released a list of the most bizarre insurance claims of 2008, which is topped by the tale of a man who claimed on his household contents cover after shooting out his TV.

According to Lloyds TSB, the man blasted his TV by accident while repairing an old gun, rather than shooting it out deliberately because he was annoyed that John Sargeant had left Strictly Come Dancing.

Apparently the man in question repaired old arms for his friends and had not realised that the weapon he was handling was loaded.

Phil Loney, managing director, Lloyds TSB Insurance, said that the case demonstrated the need to expect the unexpected and have adequate insurance to cover all eventualities.

He added: "I never cease to be intrigued by the variety of claims we receive day in, day out."

Recently the AA released a list of the most bizarre car insurance stories they had heard in 2008, including the tale of a car hit by a flying Christmas tree.
