AA: Car insurers 'wouldn't touch Ronaldo with a bargepole' after crash

A spokesman for the AA told the Guardian that none of the car insurance providers the firm uses would be prepared to cover him, following his recent major crash.
The 23-year-old emerged unscathed from the wreckage of his Ferrari this week, having only bought it two days earlier.
But it is not just the Portuguese winger who may find it difficult to get car insurance. The AA spokesman said that most footballers would struggle - and not just because of the value of the vehicle.
"Imagine if there were three Premiership footballers in one car and they received injuries that meant they couldn't play again. We would be paying out for loss of earnings, paying sponsors for failure to fulfill contracts," he explained.
The world's footballers and managers this week chose Ronaldo as this year's world player of the year, pushing Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Liverpool's Fernando Torres into second and third place respectively.
