Car insurance 'more expensive for those called James and Daniel'

A new survey from price comparison website Confused.com has revealed that people called James are the most likely to be reckless drivers and pay more for their car insurance.

According to the poll, 18 per cent of those named Daniel admitted to having a driving conviction, while men named Alfie are the least likely to be dangerous behind the wheel.

Women were found to be more vigilant on the road, although those named Lucy ranked as the most dangerous, with six per cent confessing to driving violations.

"Not only does dangerous and careless driving have safety implications, but gaining points on driving licences also has a detrimental effect on insurance premiums," said Will Thomas, head of motor insurance at Confused.com.

In related news, the Association of British Insurers this week claimed that those who fail to take out car insurance policies are more likely to cause road accidents.
