NS&I savings account withdrawn

National Savings and Investments (NS&I) has revealed that it will withdraw one of the savings account products it currently offers from the market.

The provider said that its Cash individual savings account (ISA) would no longer be available to new customers after April 6th, although existing customers will be able to continue using their accounts.

NS&I also said that Cash ISA customers will no longer be able to deposit funds at the Post Office, but must now do so over the phone or by internet banking.

Peter Cornish, director of customer offers at NS&I, said: "There will be no changes to the way they are able to withdraw money from their accounts."

He added: "We still have a wide range of savings products available through the Post Office."

NS&I, which is backed financially by the Treasury, was originally established in 1861, when it was called the Post Office Savings Bank.
