Halifax Home Insurance: Nearly half of Brits feel unsafe at home

Halifax Home Insurance has conducted a survey into whether Brits feel secure and adequately protected in their own homes.

The insurance provider's new Peace of Mind Survey found that although the majority of people in the UK feel safe at home, nearly half of those polled do not.

Halifax Home Insurance found that the biggest causes of worry are noisy roads, unexpected visitors to the door and being alone at night.

Martyn Foulds, senior claims manager at Halifax Home Insurance, said: "Although it reveals that the majority of Brits still feel safe in the home, some of the findings are surprising.

"For example, women living alone have a higher peace of mind score than those living with parents."

Recently, research conducted by Abbey revealed that the number of domestic break-ins is likely to increase as a result of the recession.
