Halifax: Brits reviewing finances

Halifax has conducted a survey which shows that many Brits are making reviewing their finances a priority for 2009.

The savings account and mortgages provider found that 48 per cent of those surveyed will be embarking on a review of their financial situation - a proportion which rises to 56 per cent in the 25-34 age group.

Halifax's poll also found that more than two-thirds of Brits have never switched their main current account provider, which the bank recommends as an important step for customers looking to get the most out of their money.

Mike Regnier, Halifax head of banking, said: "It's good news that people are intending to make their finances a priority in 2009. By reviewing something as simple as their current account, people could get their finances in better shape."

Recently, Abbey conducted research which revealed that many young Brits are choosing to live with their parents in order to get their finances in better shape.
