Sheila's Wheels: Car ensures families spend time together

Car insurance company Sheila's Wheels has revealed that taking the kids for a spin is regarded by many mothers as a great way to spend time with their little ones.

A survey by the female car insurance specialist found that 56 per cent of mums find it easier to talk to their children when on the road, away from the distractions of the home.

The confined space and limited opportunities for eye contact also make car journeys an ideal time for bringing up sensitive subjects, 14 per cent said.

In contrast, ten percent of mums admitted that they rarely or never eat together as a family, suggesting the vehicle is replacing the dining table as the forum for family discussions in many households.

Sheila's Wheels began offering car insurance in February 2008 and now provides home cover too, taking on 1,200 new customers in its first year of operation.
