Brits 'looking to bag a bargain on cars'

Thousands of people will be heading to car dealerships this weekend in order to "bag a bargain" on brand new cars, according to research conducted by uSwitch.com.

The website calculates that around 360,000 people will be looking to take advantage of car dealers' desperation to shift excess stock and snapping up low prices.

However uSwitch.com warned that the cost of a new car could become "seriously inflated" if customers chose the wrong finance deal or take out an expensive loan to cover the cost of their purchase.

Louise Bond, personal finance manager at uSwitch.com, said: "It would be such a shame to bag a bargain on the forecourt this weekend only to wipe out the savings with an expensive loan."

Recently, the AA conducted research which revealed that car insurance may also be going cheap at the moment as insurers keep their premiums down in an attempt to attract new customers in the first quarter of the year.
