Prudential: New annuity launched

Prudential has announced the launch of a new annuity, which it claims will give pensioners a more flexible way to fund their retirement.

The new annuity scheme is aimed at those who have over £10,000 to spend on an annuity and offers customers the ability to choose the level of monthly income they require.

Prudential added that it will also offer customers the ability to review their monthly incomes annually and make changes if they see fit to do so.

Karin Brown, annuities business director at Prudential, said that "in many cases" people's retirement lasts for as long as 25 years.

She added: "People in retirement should be able to choose an income level which suits their changing needs and has the potential to grow throughout their retirement."

Recent research by the Alliance Trust revealed that pensioners currently face a higher level of inflation than the rest of the population, which could make flexible annuities more attractive.
