Leeds building Society Albion Cheque account 'offers high interest'

Leeds Building Society has claimed that its Albion Cheque account is offering high rates of interest at the moment, following the Bank of England's base rate cuts.

According to the mortgage and savings account provider, the Albion Cheque account currently offers a rate of interest which is two per cent above the base rate.

The account also boasts many of the features of a basic current account, including free banking for day-to-day use as well as direct debit and standing order facilities.

Kim Rebecchi, director of sales and marketing at Leeds Building Society, said: "We are very mindful of the interests of our savers and have not passed on the last two Bank of England Base rate deductions to our Albion Cheque account customers."

She added that the decision means the account now offers "fantastic value" to customers.

Last week, the Bank of England cut the base rate to 0.5 per cent.
