Norwich Union reveals secret to longer life

Norwich Union, a life insurance provider, has compiled a list of top tips to help people live for longer.

According to the insurer, by taking 15 simple steps, customers could in theory extend their life expectancy by around 77 years.

While some of the steps, such as not smoking and maintaining a healthy weight might seem obvious, others, such as laughing for fifteen minutes a day and flossing regularly, are a little more bizarre.

Darren Dicks, head of annuities at Norwich Union, said: "While we aren't really suggesting that someone adopting all of these practices will automatically add more than 70 years to their life, our research shows that broadly speaking these activities will have an effect on life expectancy."

Norwich Union is currently undergoing a rebranding exercise and will change its name to Aviva in the near future.
