Fairinvestment.co.uk: Savings accounts are a priority

A survey conducted by Fairinvestment.co.uk has revealed that savings accounts are a priority for many Brits as they become more cautious with their cash during the recession.

The price comparison website found that 44 per cent of people would deposit any spare cash they now have into a savings account.

Meanwhile, just ten per cent of people in the UK claimed they would splash any extra cash they had on luxuries like make-up, clothes and CDs.

Sharon Bratley, chartered financial planner at Fairinvestment.co.uk, said: "It is good to see that saving is important to so many people.

"The low percentage of people who would choose to spend any extra cash on luxuries is also encouraging and suggests that Brits are being more careful with their money."

Sainsbury's Bank recently conducted research which suggested that the interest rates currently offered on many savings accounts are low.
