LV= travel insurance reveals UK travel trends

British holidaymakers have been forced to think twice about their travel plans this year as a result of the economic downturn.

At least that is the opinion of travel insurance provider LV=, which has claimed that a quarter of the UK's adults are planning to holiday in the UK this summer instead of going abroad.

This comes after a study conducted by the company revealed that of those planning to holiday on home soil, 40 per cent are doing so due to financial reasons.

LV= travel insurance spokesperson Emma Holyer explained: "The sliding value of the pound, particularly compared with the euro and US dollars, plus the overall economic climate, have made holidaymakers think twice about spending their hard-earned wages on a trip abroad."

Meanwhile, research from uSwitch.com recently revealed that consumers struggle to manage their travel budget while abroad due to increased fees and charges for using debit and credit cards.
