Barclays Wealth: Savvy investors betting on sterling

The bank reported that trading volumes have consistently increased week on week on the Barclays Stockbrokers FX platform. It added that the average trade size had risen to approximately 23 per cent recently.
Currently, three out of the top five pairs of currencies to trade include sterling, as savvy investors take advantage of the currency's growing strength.
Barbara-Ann King, head of investments at Barclays Stockbrokers, said: "As sterling has begun to rise in value in recent weeks we have consistently seen clients capitalising on this trend, trading on our FX platform."
The pound weakened significantly against key currencies such as the dollar and the euro at the start of this year as a series of shocks rocked the UK economy.
