HSBC 'is best for customer service'

HSBC has been voted the best bank for customer service in a mystery shopping exercise, it has emerged.

The bank claimed that its customer service was voted the best of a list of ten financial services providers as part of a "detailed mystery shopping exercise". It also came out top for the speed and the quality of its service.

HSBC's in-branch and online customer service both won plaudits for their knowledgeable staff, who served customers with a friendly, welcoming attitude.

Joe Garner, HSBC general manager of personal financial services, said he was "delighted" with the outcome of the exercise.

He added: "We have an excellent team who work incredibly hard across the business to deliver consistently good customer service and it is great to see their dedication and hard work being recognised in this way."

HSBC employs around 40,000 staff in the UK, who serve around 15.6 million customers.
