Vouchers 'helping Brits save money'

Recent research has revealed that many people in the UK are using money off vouchers in a bid to save money during the credit crunch.

The study, conducted by uSwitch.com, revealed that 53 per cent of Brits have used a discount coupon to pay for a meal in a restaurant recently.

Other money-saving measures adopted by Brits recently include taking packed lunches into work, a tactic adopted by 51 per cent of the people surveyed by the price comparison website.

Louise Bond, personal finance manager at uSwitch.com, said: "The stigma attached to using discount vouchers or even picking up small change off the street is also a thing of the past."

Even the rich and famous have been seen using money off vouchers recently. Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen recently paid for a meal in a local restaurant using a half price coupon.
