M&S Money offers Mexican currency refund

M&S Money has announced that it will refund the travel money bought by customers intending on heading off on holiday to Mexico following the outbreak of swine flu in the country.

The company said that customers with unwanted Mexican pesos or US dollars will be able to take them into any M&S Money bureau de change branch until the close of business on May 8th and exchange them free of charge.

Customers must prove that they purchased the currency from M&S and prove that they intended to travel to Mexico.

James Yerkess, M&S travel money manager, said the company would "refund the foreign currency in full at the same rate to which [customers] bought it". He added: "We sympathise with all those who have been left disappointed by the loss of their holiday."

Swine flu, as the virulent strain of H1N1 is commonly known, has caused more than 100 deaths in Mexico. Several leading UK tour operators, including First Choice and Thomas Cook, have cancelled customers' holidays to the region.
