Hayley Parsons, chief executive of the price comparison website, said that a survey by the AA had shown record price hikes by insurance companies. She added that the overall picture painted by the survey is "bleak" for drivers.
Ms Parsons claimed: "Those drivers who simply accept their renewal quote this year are likely to feel the full force of an industry being hit from all sides by rising costs."
She explained that one of the best ways to find a cheaper car insurance renewal quote may be to use a price comparison website.
Recently Fairinvestment.co.uk, another similar site, recommended that people review all their financial service providers and shop around for the best deals as part of a spring clean of their finances.
