Co-operative Bank current accounts 'prove popular'

According to its latest internal statistics, published today, the bank has seen an increase of 123 per cent in the number of people switching to its current account this year compared to last year.
The figures show that the majority of those switching are coming from big high street banks such as the Royal Bank of Scotland and HBOS.
John Barker, head of current accounts at the Co-operative Bank, said: "There is a growing dissatisfaction with the major high street providers and customers are now no longer prepared to stay loyal to their existing bank."
The Co-operative Bank recently secured permission from Bob Dylan to use his song Blowin' in the Wind on their adverts, a decision apparently influenced by the bank's ethical policies.
