Alliance & Leicester savings account returns

Alliance & Leicester has announced that it is reintroducing its Premier Saver Account onto the market for some of its customers.

The regular saver account, which offers a gross rate of interest of seven per cent, will be made available to all customers switching to an Alliance & Leicester Premier Current Account from today.

Alliance & Leicester said the reintroduction of the product is designed to encourage people to put aside a regular amount each month.

Gillian Almond, current accounts manager for the bank, said: "The Premier Regular Saver is a great way for people to kick-start a savings habit and, in a year they will have saved up a nice little nest egg, and received an eye-popping rate of interest."

Alliance & Leicester also launched a series of fixed-rate bonds recently, in conjunction with its Santander Banking Group sister brands, Abbey and Bradford and Bingley.
