Confused.com offers advice for cyclists

Price comparison website confused.com has offered advice for cyclists which is aimed at helping them avoid having their bikes stolen.

The website said that cyclists looking to bring out their bikes as the warmer summer weather approaches should be aware the bicycles are desirable targets for thieves.

It counselled cyclists to lock their bikes to racks or railings in busy streets in the centre of cities when out and to keep them safely locked away inside when they are at home.

Darren Black, head of home insurance at confused.com, said: "More often than not, bikes are easy pickings for thieves as people often leave them unlocked while they quickly pop into shops."

Recently, the leader of the Conservative Party David Cameron revealed that someone had stolen his bike from outside his home, where it was tied to railings. It is the second time the bicycle has been stolen in the space of ten months.
