Abbey 2-year fixed-rate bond reintroduced

Abbey has announced that it is relaunching one of its two-year fixed-rate bond products back onto the market, due to popular demand.

The relaunched product pays an interest rate of 4.01 per cent for the duration of the term, provided that customers invest between £30,000 and £2 million in the bond and do not touch it for two years.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, director of savings and investments for Abbey, said that the product would compliment Abbey's existing range of savings accounts, which include the fixed-rate monthly saver.

He added: "With interest rates at an all time low, it's clear savers have to work harder to make the most of their money.

"Our new […] bond [offers] customers a great rate which is more than 3.5 per cent higher than the current Bank of England base rate."

Abbey is part of the Santander Group, along with fellow UK brands Alliance & Leicester and Bradford and Bingley.
