RBS and NatWest 'best for online banking protection'

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and NatWest have the best track records for taking care of the customers that choose to bank online with them, it has been claimed.

Both banks have now introduced online security solutions to guard against their customers experiencing breaches while they bank on the internet.

Security software from Trusteer has been chosen by the banks to boost online security and is available to their customers for free, from the RBS and NatWest websites.

This news comes after the threat of hacking and breaches in the security systems of online banking websites have been reported as fraudsters develop increasingly sophisticated ways to obtain individuals' financial details.

Gavin Coull, e-crime prevention manager for RBS said: "Rapport is fast to download and easy to install, but most importantly it allows us to quickly and effectively react to emerging threats […] 500,000 customers are already benefiting […] with more downloading it everyday."

One company which is considering introducing an online banking service for its customers is Richard Branson's Virgin, which may branch out into finance in the future, it has been reported.
