Festivalgoers urged to insure belongings before pitching tent

Music-lovers planning to hit the mud this summer and visit a UK festival have been urged to check that their personal belongings are insured before they head for the fields.

MoneySupermarket.com has reminded rockers that before pitching a tent, it is important to know if their valuables are covered and this can be done by adding them to their home contents policies for a small fee.

The site points out that those with Barclaycard home contents insurance, costing £69, can, for an extra £30, insure their personal belongings up to the value of £1,000.

"Many home contents policies will cover you for items such as your mobile phone, ipod or camera if you are away from home for at very little cost," advised Steve Sweeney, head of home insurance at MoneySupermarket.com.

This year's legendary Glastonbury festival is set to be held between Wednesday 24th and Sunday 28th on Worthy Farm in Pilton.
