Credit Action: Brits are worrying about money with good reason

Credit Action, a group which provides financial advice to people in the UK, has dispelled the suggestion that people are unnecessarily and blindly panicking about money amid the recession.

Brits are not being paranoid or over-cautious about their finances due to the recession, but actually have real and pressing financial worries and require assistance in resolving them, explained director of Credit Action Chris Tapp.

"The downturn in the economy has led to a rise in the number of people who have seen a downturn in their own individual personal finances [and] therefore they are struggling to get by day to day," he said.

Mr Tapp added that more people are asking for help because their current situations are "getting to breaking point".

According to statistics released by Credit Action last month, 143 properties were repossessed daily during the three months to December 2008 and the average number of people declared bankrupt every day will reach 435 this year.
